Privacy Policy

Getsbetter stores account identity, session, task, and weekly planning data needed to run the app. The mobile app uses Apple or Google sign-in and sends provider identity tokens to Getsbetter only to create a Getsbetter session.

Data We Store

• Email address and linked Apple or Google account identifiers.
• Session records used to keep the mobile app signed in.
• Subscription, customer and checkout references, subscription status, and task and AI usage counts used to manage plan limits. Deleting a task does not reset its lifetime usage count.
• Planning records you create, including tasks, weekly cycles, projects, and related review data.
• If you connect Google Calendar, Getsbetter stores the linked Google subject and email, the dedicated calendar identifier, granted scopes, synchronization status, and sanitized error metadata. Hybrid Google Tasks & Calendar connections also store the dedicated task-list identifier and task mappings. Refresh tokens and provisioning-recovery credentials are encrypted at rest; short-lived access tokens remain in memory only.
• Optional Mentor and applied-learning data, including Life Areas, your “going well” definitions and commitments, explicit task associations, Life Area check-ins and notes, outcomes, learning preferences, accessibility or accommodation needs, mentor interventions, learning prescriptions, hypotheses, recommendations, and application evidence and reflections.
• Optional proactive Mentor data, including observation history, your observation feedback, notification preferences, privacy-safe notification delivery events, and an encrypted mobile device notification token when you opt in to push notifications.

Your Mentor Controls

You can correct mentor hypotheses; edit Life Area names, “going well” definitions, and current commitments; and hide or restore Life Areas. You can replace the check-in for your current local calendar week. Earlier weeks remain read-only submission-time snapshots. You can opt in to proactive Mentor notifications, mute Life Areas, set quiet hours and a timezone, or turn the web preference off. The web preference stops delivery but retains the encrypted mobile device registration. Disabling push in the mobile app revokes that device registration. Device operating-system permission is separate and remains under your control. If you delete a task, Getsbetter automatically removes its stored Life Area association. You can delete your account to remove the active production records associated with it.

Data Use

Getsbetter uses this data to authenticate you, sync your task list, show your current week, and support account deletion. We do not sell personal data.

Optional iOS Acquisition Measurement

On iOS, you can choose whether to help us measure which advertising brings new people to Getsbetter. Optional Firebase analytics event collection is off until you enable it in the mobile app's More settings. You can turn it off there at any time. Your choice applies to this device and does not affect creating or saving tasks. We do not send earlier task milestones after you opt in.

When enabled, Google Analytics for Firebase receives a first-task-created event without task content, email addresses, phone numbers, or your Getsbetter account identifier. Its SDK also collects app-instance identifiers, app interactions such as first opens, sessions and notification interactions, campaign attribution, approximate location derived from IP addresses, device and app information, and SDK diagnostics. Google uses this measurement with linked Google Ads to report advertising performance. We use Apple's SKAdNetwork and Google's event-based on-device conversion measurement; this integration does not include advertising identifier (IDFA) support. We disable collection of the vendor identifier (IDFV), automatic screen reporting, and personalized advertising in this integration. Turning this preference off stops future Firebase analytics event collection; it does not recall events already dispatched or reports already sent to Google. Apple's privacy-preserving install attribution is separate from this analytics preference.

Separately, Getsbetter keeps a first-task milestone with your account to count activation once and prevent duplicate reporting. Deleting tasks does not reset that milestone; deleting your account removes it. Advertising reports may be delayed, aggregated, or modeled and are separate from your task records.

Chrome Extension

Getsbetter – Add to Triage reads the active page title and URL only after you choose to capture a page. If you enter an optional note, the extension sends the note, page title, and URL securely to your Getsbetter account so it can create a Triage item. The extension stores Getsbetter authentication data locally in Chrome to keep your account connected.

Google Tasks & Calendar Sync

Calendar-only authorization creates one secondary Getsbetter calendar. Hybrid authorization also creates one dedicated Getsbetter Google Tasks list. Native Google Tasks receive exactly the title, canonical Getsbetter link in notes, selected date, and completion state. Multi-day Calendar events receive exactly the title, canonical Getsbetter link, date span, and a private local task identifier. The identifier is stored in extendedProperties.private.getsbetterTaskId for reconciliation; events are all-day, transparent to free/busy availability, have no attendees, and disable reminders. Completion and reopening sync both ways only for native Google Tasks. Getsbetter remains authoritative for titles and dates and restores Google-side edits during reconciliation. Normal sync uses only the stored dedicated-list identifier, and fresh provisioning does not list unrelated task lists. If creating a recovery-marked task list has an ambiguous result, a later recovery attempt may transiently read task-list identifiers and titles solely to find an exact match for that opaque recovery marker. Getsbetter does not persist unrelated task-list metadata, never imports unknown tasks, and does not read or modify unrelated calendars. Although the Tasks OAuth scope is broader, this recovery-only lookup does not expand normal sync beyond the dedicated list. Google controls native-task notifications and its retention behavior.

Disconnect first stops new sync work. Task-list cleanup runs before Calendar cleanup, and Getsbetter skips containers that do not exist before revoking retained credentials and removing local connection data. If access was revoked or container creation had an ambiguous result, manual cleanup is an exceptional recovery path: Settings names the exact dedicated or recovery-marked Getsbetter containers to delete without displaying their identifiers or credentials.

During account deletion, Getsbetter synchronously attempts credential refresh and identifiable managed-container deletion before local deletion when Google access and the lifecycle fence are available. This bounded best-effort cleanup may briefly delay account deletion, but it never prevents local deletion when remote cleanup fails or the lifecycle fence cannot be acquired before its deadline. Each distinct retained credential is given one revocation attempt when the fence is acquired. An ambiguous Calendar creation without a known identifier may require manual deletion.

Extension data is used only to provide and improve this user-facing capture feature. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not transferred for creditworthiness or lending purposes. Getsbetter complies with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements.

AI-Generated Mentor Guidance

Getsbetter uses Google Gemini to provide personalized Mentor guidance and applied-learning recommendations only in a controlled pilot. Pilot access is restricted to an allowlist of people known to be 18 or older who are participating in an eligible professional or business evaluation. The unrestricted public consumer app remains Gemini-disabled unless Getsbetter separately confirms contractual eligibility for a broader audience. Google processes only the bounded subset of Getsbetter data needed for each model-generation request as our service provider. For applied-learning requests, that subset may include your applied-learning profile and active or selected outcomes; accepted or corrected hypotheses; an open or selected learning prescription and its resource; selected, related, or recent tasks; recent weekly reviews; and selected or completed application experiments. Getsbetter does not use Google Search grounding. Because Gemini has no live-web access in these requests, source-backed book and course recommendations remain suppressed until Getsbetter configures a compliant retrieval provider. Google Gemini uses this context to evaluate the requested resource or applied-learning context, form Mentor inferences, and generate learning recommendations and related Mentor guidance. Production model generation requires a Gemini project with active billing. For controlled eligible users, Task Manager sends Gemini only your current Task Manager request, the registered task functions, and the bounded function results needed to complete it. Getsbetter encrypts the current request and response, and that content is available for interrupted delivery for up to 15 minutes. When your app confirms receipt, the live exchange is deleted sooner. After the recovery window expires, the content is inaccessible; scheduled cleanup removes the encrypted ciphertext. Earlier Task Manager requests are not used as model context. Task Manager does not enable Google Search grounding for Task Manager and does not send a raw or hashed Getsbetter user identifier. Any Gemini thought signatures are opaque protocol data held in memory only; they are never persisted, logged, or audited.

For weekly Mentor interventions, the bounded request contains the local week start; a selected Life Area identifier and category; deterministic reason codes and evidence references; allowed action names and approved safe action templates; and only the selected evidence needed for that candidate. Depending on the evidence selected by Getsbetter’s deterministic policy, this can include a check-in rating or note, an associated task title, accepted or corrected hypothesis text, or prior intervention feedback.

For proactive Mentor observations, Getsbetter sends Google Gemini limited structured trigger context: the trigger category and key, Life Area category, related record identifiers, evidence references and timing, profile revision, and approved safe response templates. It does not send your Life Area notes, commitment text, task titles, or observation feedback. The request does not send your raw user ID or Getsbetter’s internal pseudonymous safety identifier. Proactive Mentor observations remain pilot-gated and may be disabled independently.

Third-Party Service Providers

• Payments: Paddle collects checkout contact and payment information and processes subscription payments. Getsbetter sends an opaque checkout reference to associate your purchase with your account, and stores payment references and subscription status, not card numbers. Paddle may retain billing records independently of your Getsbetter account deletion.
• Authentication providers: Apple and Google process sign-in information and provide the identity tokens Getsbetter uses to authenticate your account.
• Google Tasks and Calendar: If you opt in, Google stores the dedicated Getsbetter calendar and range events. Hybrid authorization also stores a dedicated Getsbetter task list and native tasks. Google processes the limited API requests described above.
• AI provider: Google processes the bounded model-generation data described above through Google Gemini to evaluate context, form Mentor inferences, and generate learning recommendations and Mentor guidance. Google Search grounding is disabled, and model output is not treated as a verified source for current learning-resource facts.
• Push notification provider: When you opt in, Firebase Cloud Messaging processes your mobile device notification token and delivery request to route a notification to that device. Getsbetter sends a generic lock-screen message; the observation text is fetched only after the app opens and authenticates your account.

Data Retention and Deletion

Getsbetter retains account, planning, Mentor, and applied-learning data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Turning the web notification preference off stops new delivery attempts but retains the encrypted mobile device registration. Disabling push in the mobile app, signing out, or receiving a typed permanent provider rejection revokes that mobile device registration. Disconnecting Google Tasks & Calendar follows the ordered cleanup described above. If Google access was already revoked, Getsbetter cannot guarantee remote deletion; Settings identifies the dedicated or recovery-marked containers that require manual cleanup before removing local state. When self-service account deletion completes, Getsbetter performs bounded best-effort remote cleanup synchronously before local deletion when its lifecycle fence is available. That cleanup may briefly delay the request but never prevents local deletion, and encrypted local credentials are removed with the account. Getsbetter also removes the active production records associated with your account, including Life Areas, check-ins, task associations, mobile device notification tokens, Mentor observation history, and notification delivery events, as described on the account deletion page. Copies in backups and operational logs may remain for a limited period for security and reliability, then age out under normal retention processes.

Data Security

Getsbetter uses reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account on the web from Settings > Delete account or in the mobile app from Account > Delete account. Review deletion details at getsbetter account deletion.
